Hospitals/ Surgery Centers – Direct Access to Surgical Patients from Employers

Hospitals are growing their physical plant with more operating rooms and surgery centers are sprouting up all over the nation in response to growing demand for surgical services. Despite this demand, most hospitals and surgery centers have under-utilized operating room time, because of block-time under-utilization related to seasonal fluctuations, scheduling issues related to insurance pre-approval, last minute cancellations or surgical schedule coordination with surgeon’s vacation schedules. Filling this under-utilized time is of paramount interest to CFOs striving to meet quarterly targets. Delay in reimbursement for services from insurance carriers is placing increased stress on the system.

The SurgiConnect platform is a powerful solution to fill under-utilized operating room time and ensure timely payment for services.

This platform gives surgery centers and hospitals access to surgical patients, directly from nationwide employers.

How It Works:

SurgiConnect through SurgiPrice contracts with nationwide employers to manage non-acute surgical care for their employees. The Founder is the Medical Director for the Agency Growth Mastermind Network, an organization of about 100 best-in-class benefits consultants, who collectively manage nearly a thousand employers with self-insured health plans.

When employees need a surgical procedure, a personalized concierge helps upload medical records and imaging data to the HIPAA-compliant cloud. Board-certified surgeons receive notifications, about a patient in need of surgery. They review the records and imaging on the app, validate medical necessity and report their past experience and all- inclusive pricing with their facility.

The bundled price includes the surgeon’s fee, surgery center/hospital fee and anesthesia fee. Surgeons enter their fee and report facility names where they are credentialed. Facility fee and anesthesia fees are then obtained from the facility. Alternatively, for employed surgeons, the facility could enter an all-inclusive bundled price. All fees are kept strictly confidential from all parties.

Quality measures are procedure-specific and include information such as number of cases performed, success rates and complication rates.

Patients receive the list of surgeons and facilities, with their qualifications and opinions, and then make their choice. Once the procedure is performed, surgeons report outcomes data to SurgiConnect. Once outcomes are reported, the funds are sent in full to all parties.
